Not a Great Moment for Mankind

An Italian hospital has 'perfected' what they call a 'drive-through foundling wheel' to make it easy - and safe - for recently un=pregnant mums to 'drop off' their newly born but sadly unwanted offspring. The Herald-Sun reports:

Over the weekend, a baby was abandoned in a high-tech hatch installed recently in a hospital in a poorer neighbourhood on Rome's southern outskirts.

The person who left the child entered a room accessible only from the outside, pushed open a glass hatch, and deposited the baby in a heated crib in a room on the inside.

Electronic sensors detected movement in the crib and set off an alarm for doctors at the Casilino hospital, who arrived in 40 seconds and cared for the baby boy, whom they named Stefano.

...and it seems the Italian Family Affairs Minister Rosy Bindi believes that all hospitals in the country should install modern foundling wheels.

Keeping on top of Drugs

It's hard enough remembering the names of the 'recreational' drugs on the street today, so how are we expected to discuss them on an equal basis with our pre-adults? I well remember my son 'lecturing' me on whathe believed I didn't know about drugs. I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd heard it twenty years ago.

It was, I suppose, a way of telling me to butt out, but it was also an Oedipean response in that he was contesting his position in the family - as all young men do with their fathers. A healthy response... an unhealthy subject.

But.. kids DO know more than us and they do look at us with a form of cynicism. So when we talk about drugs I am always looking for what I call 'the side door'; a way of discussion where he accepts that I at least know a bit more than most parents.. so this site is quite handy.

Just telling a kid that drugs are bad for them is a sure way of saying goodbye to a meaningful on-going dialogue, so education - ours, not theirs - is, I believe, all-important. This site assists with some well-presented yet comprehensive learning tools about the newer substances our kids are being presented.

A Real Heart Opener Technology

It's happening more often. Truly inspired people are taking a previously impossible concept and, with the almost unlimited technological advances we now have, creating answers to problems we have accepted as unanswerable. The Tango is one such idea now come to fruition that's going to help thousands of disabled kids to live, to communicate - and to grow - like never before possible. The website has demo videos you just have to see. It brought tears to my eyes. Go here

Acid Water, the 'Wonder Waste Water'

Paul Keshan rang us this week, a little perturbed that unlike so many other clents’ dogs, his dog refused the alkaline water from his new Alphion. He was upset because obviously he loved his dog, and the mutt was repeatedly getting ‘hot spots’ on his paws – inflammation, causing him to limp. The Vet advised him to spray methylated spirits on his feet, but you can imagine the dog’s response!

So Paul decided to give our acid water a tryout, dunking Rover’s paws in the acid water.

Lo and behold, no more ‘hot spots’!

Yet another use for Acid byproduct water from a Jupiter Science Alkalizer!

Lalita, one of our alkaline advisors has her own story of amazing healing from a serious burn incident using acid water. Check her story here.

Advantages of being a Pessimist

This came about after a little 'discussion' between Cassie and myself on what was the real Optimist in our relationship. We began with the idea that every behaviour has a reason for continuation, so why would we continue with pessimism? The answers Cassie came up with are revealing, and allowed a new appreciation of 'Pessimist Power'..

Disadvantages of being an Optimist
You overlay your true feelings with 'positive' thoughts.
Some people hate you.
You don't know when to stop something because you keep on making everything 'look good' even when it may be bad for you.
You make pessimists feel terrible.
You always have the feeling of walking on thin ice.

Disadvantages of being a Pessimist.
You become very sad.
People don't like you.
Even when good happens you still look for the negative 'just in case'.
You are unlikely to begin anything in the physical world.

Advantages of being an Optimist
Everything seems to look good as long as you are optimistic.
Everybody likes you - or at least you think so.
You look like you are happy.
You are more likely to begin a new venture even if optimism will probably disguise its true state from your vision.

Advantages of being a Pessimist.
You see so much more of what is really happening.
By not trying to have everything look good you break through to deeper understanding, wisdom and compassion.
You never get disappointed.

A very good article on what's happening at the forefront of gerontology, or anti-ageing research. As sual, however, it focuses on acces to high-end research that will inevitably be available to those of us not financially challenged, which may mean a new world of mini moguls.. That's natural selection? Hardly.

They're getting very smart...

Here's an email I just received from a kind web administrator...
"Mail server report.

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.

Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).

Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.
After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail
addresses

Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.

Best regards,

Customers support service"
They even gave me software to downlaod to get rid of the worm.
Nice? NO. A smart hacker. Be warned.

Suggestion received - and noted

I received an anonymous post regarding my comments on the 'astral' nature of the Jubb book on acid/alkaline balance suggesting that if I want to criticise anyone else's work I should write my own acid/alkaline course first.
Well, 'anonymous' - I already have, and you can sign up for it now...FREE HERE

Flouride; A serious debate!

When dentists suggest that they will actually cough up to pay for a community's fluoride, one has to take notice. My dentist friend in Melbourned has turned to DIY home renovations as an alternative income source because the introduction of Flouride has slashed his tooth repair business. There's certainly no doubt that flouride assists preventative dental health, but there are certainly many arguments against flouride introduction on a mass scale.
Here's the report
See this website for more info against flouride.

Sudden Change in Global RealPolitik

Listening to the news about the Iraq war I am constantly reminded that the number one reason for the war is OIL. Well, things might change fast with global warming, and oil may not be the 'gold' we seek.

Water is farst becoming as expensive as oil and a huge aquifer with a volume as big as the Arctic Ocean has been identified under East Asia. Expect a huge shift in power politics as the West desperately strives to offer China a 'deal' just like we offered the Arabian Peninsula so many years ago. Soemthing tells me it's going to be a tougher bargain this time around...

Hey! Wouldn't it be weird if the best place to access this water was north Korea!

Madman or hero? The medical maverick who let 50 hookworms burrow into his arm

Sometimes a researcher will go beyond the beyond. Aussie Professor Barry Marshall is one example. He swallowed his own experimental remedy against the advice of his peers. He and his partner won this years' Nobel Price for medical research.

Take a look at another wild man of science here. he went way beyond simple experimental drug taking...

How wrong Can you be in the name of Health?

Some months ago I saw a couple of books on Amazon by David Jubb on acid/alkaline balance. Because it is my specialty, I ordered them. Well, I haven't opened the second one because the first one was so wacko.

I regard myself a broadminded, and have examined all of the theories put forward about acid alkaline balance, but Mr Jubb's was well... extra terrestial. I laboured for chapters trying to make sense of it!

Anyway, I put it on the shelf and thought nothing more of it until I saw this report. (And.. he's Australian!)

Trouble getting Out of bed? Here's the ultimate answer

Ninjas need their sleep for renewal, contemplation, and rejuvenation. When a Ninja sleeps, it is a very deep sleep. Sleeping Ninjas, especially young ones, can only be roused from slumber by another Ninja, which is a big problem if you too are a Ninja, are tired, must wake up for a secret Ninja mission, and the only Ninja in your office. Good thing we found the Sonic Bomb Clock - it will wake even the soundest Ninja Nap.

The Sonic Bomb Clock has an adjustable volume alarm with a maximum loudness of 113 decibels (just for reference, a jackhammer is about 100 decibels!) And the bed shaker does just that. Slip it under your mattress and your ears will bleed and your bed will shake, and there is no way you will oversleep. Or, you could turn the sound alarm off and tape the bed shaker to your office chair. You'll be vibrated awake without disturbing the drones. Then you can get back to your Ninja activity refreshed and ready for action.

The Real Cost of Plastic Water Bottles.

Plastic is slowly but surely covering the planet. But what we don't see is the hidden or 'carbon cost' of that throwaway platic bottle. This website gives an amazing expose of the cost of drinking Fiji Water. Sure, they're no different than any other disposable water bottle, but the sheer volume of energy expenditure just to carry water is nothing short of stupendous.

The World is an Acidic One

As I was working on my computer I couldn't help but hear Lalita, one of our Wellbeing Counsellors here at ION LIFE on the phone, saying that 'TV is acidifying'.

I had to think about it a moment - but she
is right. TV is depressing, especially with all the climate change news. TV is acidifying becasue it's depressing, newspapers are acidifying, driving to work is acidifying, working on a computer is acidifying... prompting me to wonder whether we'll actually have to worry about climate change. Some days I think it's a race between climate change and acid for claiming my life.

Of course I'm one of the lucky ones; I alkalize every day. But when I see what people have in their shopping baskets at the supermarket checkout, I admit, it's sometimes a despairing view.

I read a simply amazing article on the recent history of food posted on the New York Times website recently, entitled 'Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.' by Michael Pollan, Knight professor of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. His most recent book, “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” was chosen by the editors of The New York Times Book Review as one of the 10 best books of 2006. You'll see why when you read this amazing article! If you go to the Amazon site listed above you can also see an interview of Mr Pollan - a good laugh about US eaters; the 'Children of Corn'

A(Very) Alternative way of Alkalizing

We had a visit this morning from a German chap. He was around sixty and looked healthy. He was interested in getting his own water alkalizer, but he told us a story of his father's alkalizing method. It seems that Germany's alternative health practitioners have known all about this for many, many years.

Our new friend's father used it when he came back from WW2. The method was surprising, to say the least, but he swore by its efficacy. Apparently the therapist firstly cups the skin to bring blood to the surface and then uses a blade to scratch the skin and draw blood!

Thank God for alkaline water!

We knew it, we knew it! Prawns are the healing fish - er.. crustacean!

We've been supplying detoxifying foot patches for some years now and the best ones have Chitosan, which is ground up crustacean (crab and prawn carapace (shell) Now the same Chitosan is being employed as a rapid healing device in the Iraq War. Why are we not surprised? we've had the most amazing stories of healing from users for years now!
