"Loud people tend to have acidic body chemistry.."

Even chefs are getting the message. This chef reckons he can pick an acidic individual by the way they act in his restaurant.
He's coming from the Avurvedic point of view, but his observation is equally valid using macrobiotic philosophy or our own acid/alkaline balance concepts.

Personally, I have seen my own freneticism reduce over the seven years I've been drinking alkaline water. I seem to become more like water; I 'flow' more.

Comedy: a great weapon against Big Pharma

It's growing...

The international movement to ban the plastic non-recyclable water bottle is growing daily. Prepare to hear more about this issue.
Last year, at least two billion kilos of plastic bottles ended up in US city waste streams.
It can cost US cities more than $70 million in dumping and incineration fees alone.
Making bottles to meet Americans’ demand for bottled water required the equivalent of more than 17 million barrels of oil last year and generated more than 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Ian: What amazes me is how sex is used to sell water. What is the message of the pic above - albeit one of the more moderate ones? Why is a woman used to sell water?

Cancer and Optimism; Tell Me It Isn't True!

According to BBC news, the power of the mind has been overestimated when it comes to fighting cancer, US scientists say. They said they found that a patient’s positive or negative emotional state had no direct bearing on cancer survival or disease progression.

Can I relax now? All that smiling just to stay alive.

News for Gluten Sufferers

Since I have been advising people on acid/alkaline balance there's always been one problem that recurs. The phone rings, and a client tells me that although his/her new alkalizer is doing great things for all aspects of her health. His/her blood pressure is still high. This puzzled me for a long time until I discovered my own gluten intolerance. It was gluten, not food stress or fat that was causing the BP problem! Later, Dr Gerry Brady, alkaline water user, reported a similar finding with one of his clients.

I'm quite sure that at least one in three people are gluten intolerant, so the news of an enzyme that may allow a sufferer to eat gluten-containing food is good news indeed. Cassie received her first Wobenzyme two days ago, and after my first dose, yesterday I splurged on (and risked) two delicious cup cakes. So far, I have had no reaction, but it's a bit early; my reaction usually occurs 48 hours after consumption. However, I'll keep you posted.

The Wobenzyme website is here. Amazingly, it includes one doctor's reports of tinnitus
reduction using Wobenzyme.

Gout and Beer; do they mix?

I guess it depends on how old you are.

We had a text message from Tim this week. Tim is only in his early twenties and has had a hard road to follow in ridding himself of gout. He had given up meat, fish, and all alcohol before he came across Maree, one of our alkaline specialists. Today Maree received a text message from him.

Want To Beat Alzheimers? Here's a way that costs nothing...

It seems that latest research suggests that a good upending at regular intervals may slow the possibility of Alzheimers' Disease. This report tells me that if I stand on my head regularly, that's what will happen.

Blood flowing through the brain may affect the way nerves transmit signals to other parts of the body, and if this is proved to be true, scientists says it could be used to treat brain diseases including Alzheimer's, schizophrenia and epilepsy.

According to scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, blood may actually influence nerve function and help to regulate information passing through the brain.

Other studies have shown that changes in blood flow affect the activity of nearby neurons, altering how they transmit signals to each other.

So there y'go. I am writing this standing on my head.
(Not)

And while we are on the subject, this report says that smarter people will lose memory faster with Alzheimers'.

More on Hope in a Hopeless World

Last week I discussed George Monbiot's (author; Heat) new prediction of a sudden and catastrophic rise in sea levels as a major ice shelf loses its underpinning and falls into the ocean. I received a reply I'd like to share.

It's a website based on Google Maps that is going to scare the whillikers out of all you sea-changers who've just invested your superannuation in a seaside shack/mansion/retreat.

The link allows you to go to your own locality and see the effect of sea level rises. It only goes to 7 metres. George is predicting a 23 metere rise....
Note: I'm not sure whether it will work without Google Maps and broadband.
Here's the link.

Chinese Herbs For Menstrual Cramps

It's as official as a study can get; a huge number of women studied for efficacy of various forms of therapy for menstrual cramps, and yes, Chinese Herbs far exceeds all others in efficacy.

Of course the article here points out that the problem we have with Chinese herbs 'off the shelf' or from a local practitioner is that it's now common for them to be contaminated with heavy metals - so you may be getting more than you bargained for.

I recommend Fusion Health Chinese Herbal Remedies because the guys there have gone to the trouble to source clean herbs and have them approved by the TGA. They have an excellent range of products and a naturopath online who can assist.

By the way, this isn't a plug; I make nothing out of this; I just think their products are great and their ethics shine through their business.

Dr Oliver Sachs on the Power of Music To Heal

Don't Let the Statisticians Change Your Age!

An article appeared on the weekend about a new theory of aging being considered by the US National Bureau of Economic Research. It seems they want us to be given a new age. No, not 'new age'; an actual new way of measuring age!

It seems they have worked out that as we get older, we should be classified by how much time we have left, not how much time we have spent on Planet Earth.

So I'm coming up to 61 in December; I may, depending on THEIR ASSESSMENT be termed a twenty year 'old' man, or if I had abused myself a bit more, a ten year 'old' man. They would call this RLE- Remaining life Expectancy.

'The aging of society is a lot less dramatic with the alternative mortality based age measures.' says John Shoven of Stanford University. They worry that if aging is unchecked, then government budgets will be crippled.

Are you confused too? Are they really saying they can change our aging process by re-aging us? Will it make us live longer as we take a digit off our age every birthday? No. The whole reason is far more mercenary. By classifying us like a two-tooth sheep, we will be classified according to our ability to retire or keep working. More plainly, they want us to keep working longer.

But that's not all they have for us. They also have decided that a good way of cutting costs of government would be to increase the number of work years used to calculate social security benefits. Yes, you heard right; just increase the years we all have to work before we can retire... 'and then index the number of years for improvements in life expectancy.'

So.. if our esteemed scientific community finds a cure for cancer tomorrow (even if it is way beyond the common man's budget) then the governement can 'index' your retirement because you've just been 'gifted' more lifespan and therefore you can work even longer - even if you can't afford the new added lifepan.

Does anyone know a tropical island I can emigrate to.. now? (Oh Yes! Climate change flood free please!)

Is There a Problem with Restructured Water?

Every now and then I get a call from a potential client asking about the side effects of drinking restructured ionized water. I've instructed my alkaline specialists to always ask clients where they heard about the perceived problem and it's almost always from one competitor.

So let's look at water for a moment.
We've all been taught that water is H2O, right?

Wrong.

That still water glass you're looking at is a seething mass of molecular permutations of two elements; Hydrogen and Oxygen. These include; H, O, H2O, HO, and OH-.

Even though your water looks still, it's actually undergoing billions of exchanges of ions all the time. Since I began writing, the glass of water by my computer has experienced 8,567,421 molecular changes! How do I know? I counted them!

So whether you drink tap water, ditch water or alkaline water, you still get all these permutations of oxygen and hydrogen. it's just that when you drink ionized water, you get more of the good one; OH-.

I posted a new article about this water a couple of weeks ago and many people downloaded and commented on it, so here it is again.

Andrew the Naturopath Cleans Up with Alkaline Water

Andrew Cathles has featured before on my blog. He paid us a visit awhile ago with all of his family and we had a great connection. He's a naturopath in WA and runs the Thornlie Naturopathic Centre. (08-9452-0722)

Being a careful practitioner Andrew approached alkaline water with a healthily skeptical attitude.
Andrew has suffered from gastric reflux burning for years. So to receive this report from him this week is all the more wonderful:

"I have tried dozens of naturopathic treatments to try and stop having to use Nexium – a proton pump inhibitor used for chronic burning of the oesophagus. My condition was pre cancerous, so I had to find something that really worked before stopping the doctor’s medication. Since taking the alkaline water, I have stopped the Nexium – only having to return to it on 3 occasions in the past month – which is the best result of anything I have tried! Each of the 3 relapses was due to my eating indiscretions rather than any failing in the water! Needless to say, I am very happy with that result. "

Urine Test? No, Just Rainwater.

A customer came in last week asking about whether a water alkalizer would work on rainwater. (The short answer is yes, it will work.) He brought a sample of water from his lovely new rainwater tank and asked Peter to test its pH. Those of you familiar with our Jupiter pH test will know that it's not urine Peter is looking so amazed at; it's the water from the client's tank after testing with our pH reagent kit, showing a pH of around 5!

The simple fact is that while rainwater is a good 'green alternative' in terms of energy conservation, all those lovely pure raindrops fall through a few thousand feet of carbon dioxide and all the other nasties now in our air. On arrival, (if you have a plastic tank) it will be further acidified by the plastics in your tank. pH5 is one hundred times more acidic than neutral.

Arthritis? In Toads? Go On! Ribbet!

A recent study discovered that the toads that jump the fastest (that is the largest toads) pay for their dominance with arthritis.

The Cane toad, native to South and Central America, thrives in Australia. The toads spread rapidly to new territory, and can travel up to a kilometer in a single night. The toads that can travel fastest have an advantage because they can populate new territory more quickly. The fastest toads have longer legs and are generally larger.

But toads aren’t built for long distance movement. All the activity has been found to contribute to arthritis of the spine, as well as a higher susceptibility to a harmful bacteria.

Why Our Kids Seem Dumb

Overstimulated, overscheduled kids are getting at least an hour’s less sleep than they need – a deficiency that, new research reveals, has the power to set their cognitive abilities back years, writes New York mag.com.

According to surveys by the US National Sleep Foundation, 90% of American parents think their child is getting enough sleep. But it has been documented in a handful of major studies that children, from elementary school through to high school, get about an hour less sleep each night than was the case 30 years ago.

Why? Overscheduling of activities, burdensome homework, lax bedtimes, television and mobile phones in the bedroom all contribute. So does guilt. Parents, home from work after dark, want time with their children and are reluctant to play the hard-arse who orders them to bed.

But we now know the true cost to children. Using newly developed technological and statistical tools, sleep scientists have recently been able to isolate and measure the impact of this single lost hour. Because children’s brains are a work-in-progress until the age of 21, and because much of that work is done while a child is asleep, this lost hour appears to have an exponential impact on children that it simply doesn’t have on adults.

The surprise is how much sleep affects academic performance and emotional stability, as well as phenomena that we assumed to be entirely unrelated, such as the international obesity epidemic and the rise of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

A few scientists theorise that sleep problems during formative years can cause permanent changes in a child’s brain structure: damage that one can’t sleep off like a hangover. It’s even possible that many of the hallmark characteristics of being a tweener and teen – moodiness, depression, and even binge eating – are actually symptoms of chronic sleep deprivation.

One Good Use for Dead Plastic Water Bottles

Beginning this year, parts of Rafters Footwear sandals will be made from recycled water bottles, said an October 18 story in the Oregon Daily Emerald, the University of Oregon student newspaper.

The shoe company, headquartered here, was looking for a positive way to help the environment. The recycled materials will be used for the tops of the sandals.
The company looked into the idea about a year ago. Company President Bill Combs said in the story that when the bottles are melted down, “you can extrude the fiber and it's almost pure poly fiber. It’s a great material to reuse or recycle because you don’t have to touch it, if you will, because it’s so pure.”

Combs said the process of using the recycled bottles will at first be 40 percent more expensive than conventional manufacturing methods, but he believes that as more manufacturers adopts such methods, costs will come down, according to the story.

The recycled bottles will come from Taiwan and the sandals will be manufactured in China.

Rafters shoes are sold at 1,500 outlets throughout the United States.

Au Revoire BioNatural

When we began over seven years ago one of our first customers was a lady called Robyn Wawn. She began her business as an ION LIFE agent in Melbourne selling our Jupiter Water Ionizers. As she learned and grew, she (naturally) realised she could make more money if she imported her own ionizers, and so BioNatural was born.

In those seven years she's been very active in extending the reach of her company and products, especially her Chi and BioHeel foot patches, which became a staple of her business. She has also helped countless people to learn about acid/alkaline balance and to be helped by her knowledge, freely given.

Sadly, after a protracted and I assume - expensive struggle with the Therapeutic Goods Authority over her foot patches, Robyn tells me she has decided to call it quits. She was a very plucky lady.

Many people actually bought Robyn's BioWater 2000 and BioWater 4000 water ionizers, unaware that they were actually part owned by Jupiter. Luckily for these people, Jupiter completed their acquisition of Nexus, the company manufacturing these systems last year, and so we became local distributors.

If you have or know of anyone with one of these systems please let them know that we have ordered some replacement filters for them and they will arrive within about five weeks.

So Near and Yet So Far!

We got news today that although our new DELPHI water ionizers are close to port, they won't get through customs for another two weeks! Ouch! Apparently the ports are just choked with pre-Christmas goodies. So all you good folks hanging out for your Delphi, we're doing all we can!

A Great Story for all you painful Drinkers from Dr Robert O. Young.

Dear Ian,

No matter what kind of health challenge you or a loved one are experiencing, this story will provide a little extra motivation and confidence.

This is a good account of one man's struggle that you can share with any of those people that you are trying to motivate to take better care of themselves.

I have heard so often that when we try and get some people to take a closer look at the concept of pH Miracle balancing, we find that telling them our story is one thing, but when people hear about the successful challenges of other people, they seem to take it a bit more seriously. So, feel free to pass along Tom's life-long struggle to anyone that you think may benefit.

Dear Dr. Rob,

I've had twenty-five years of gout cured: I am 53 years young. I had my first gout attack at 28.

I tried all sorts of remedies that seemed to help only to have them become less effective with time.
The slightest pain would put me into fear of another acute attack. It was getting so bad that I would spend 3 to 4 weeks in bed in excruciating pain. I had to crawl to the bathroom. Gout was getting into my elbows so I couldn't use crutches. A bed sheet laying on the inflammation was excruciating.

I had it for 3 weeks and then a month or two later I had another 4 week attack. I heard of Dr. Young years before I got serious about his program. I knew the green smoothies that he talked about made me feel better but I was so addicted to the S.A.D.(standard American diet), especially sugar, that I couldn't stomach greens.

The last gout attack hit me after eating a whole bag of cookies. I couldn't stay away from the refined sugar no matter how hard I tried. I knew sugar would torture me, yet I kept going back. It was worse then any drug I could imagine. I always thought I could get away with eating sugar, coffee, alcohol and other high acid foods, but never could.

Finally, I picked up Dr. Youngs book "The PH Miracle."
All the foods he claimed were acidic, I noticed triggered attacks in me, including foods that many considered to be health foods like mushrooms, spirulina, blue green algaes.

Also, I noticed that some foods that alternative health books claimed I should not eat, never seemed to bother me. Foods like tomatoes & night shade vegetables.
Although potatoes were one night shade, they did bother me. Interesting enough, Dr. Young recommended avoiding eating potatoes, especially white skin potatoes. For my body, everything he said rang true.

So, after 3 weeks of torturous pain from another attack, I ordered Dr. Young's complete program of Liquid colloidals, capsules, pH drops and greens along with some healing soup recipes that Arnold sent me.

After starting the program, in two days I could get out of bed. After a week, I could walk normally.
After completing the program I felt 10 years younger.
It was truly a miracle, although I still had an addiction that I was having a hard time breaking. Every time I had the least bit of sugar it flared up again.

Of course, that was in Dr. Young's book also. True to his words, the least little bit of sugar was like throwing white gas on a fire. I erupted with another gout attack and then back on his program I would go. Back and forth I went until eventually the addiction broke and I returned to health.

I still have a ways to go, but now I can enjoy life again. I'm hiking, kayaking and doing the things I love. I have a new life and bless the pH Miracle Lifestyle and Diet Plan every day that I feel good.

I rarely have any desire for anything sweet. Just the thought of eating sugar makes me gag. So thank you Dr. Young, and my friend, Arnold Briones, and all the people that help bring your products to me.

YOU SAVED MY LIFE!

My deepest gratitude.

Tom

Ready to Take Life to a New Level?

We meet some great people through ION LIFE.
Rik Schnabel is an Alkalarian and wants the world to know it.

He's a fascinating guy because he teaches people about accessing that inner spark we all seem to lose for no good reason. Like us, Rik understands that to grow holistically one must be prepared to work on everything that presents itself; mind, body and spirit, rather than attempting to push through on mind alone.

He presents Life Beyond Limits and teaches people how to free themselves from the blocks we all know (and can't seem to change) that prevent health, work and success.

He teaches methods for conditioning yourself for success and how to flow
with the current rather than against it. And he combines his talents with the Alkalarian philosophy to make sure you are 'doing it' in your body as well as your head.

We had a talk to him, and as a result he's offering my blog readers in OZ a free seminar called 'Life Leadership and Mastery' day. A great way to spend a day!

Zeolite

There is a definite cycle with many good products that are introduced via Multi Level Marketing. At first expensive and only available through MLM, it seems very little time passes before many supplement products find an alternative way of being sold and at prices far more equitable. Zeolite was introduced to Australia via a US MLM company. Basically, it's a clay that has enormous absorption abilities and as such it has been sold as an excellent detox method, including its use for cancer sufferers.

I'm always skeptical of big claims made by new sellers of product and there is a problem with new MLM participants. In their inexperience they tend to make over-the-top claims and this was no exception.
Whilke this post isn't an advocacy for its use - I have no ability to do so as I haven't even used it myself, I am willing to pass on stories about its use.

Recently I had Catherine and Peter, two wonderful people come in to purchase their own water alkalizer. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and had watched helplessly as his PSA readings rose inexorably. She was a good researcher and was able to check out Zeolite with a good degree of prior scientific knowledge

They had purchased some of the expensive MLM product. Within two weeks his PSA went from 5.5 to 2.67; lower than the level of normal health.

Of course it was still very expensive; so they were very happy to hear of a site that offered Zeolite at a much, much more reasonable price, and happy also to pass the site on to others. We're not selling it, but I'm sure many of my readers will have a friend who may be interested.

An amazing story arrived from Australian ABC's catalyst Program about the method a parasite uses to get into cats from rats- and then into humans. Worth a look and a think.

Dropping a Ton and Making it Fun!

Have a look at this guy. He's making a movie on weight loss and he'll be featuring our wonderful water crystal images.

Weight loss is a natural effect of de-acidifying and Dr Robert O. Young has even written a book about it. Dr Young says:

Obesity is not a fat problem, it is an acid problem. Too many people are eating an acidic diet and living an acidic life. The problem is not the body fat, it is the acid from the foods we eat. We need to realize that fat is a buffer of dietary and metabolic acids. When we decrease the acidity in our diet and lifestyle then we can lose weight naturally and in a healthy way,"

Here's user Jon King's story;

"I would have never imagined that water could taste that good or be that hydrating if I had not experienced it for myself! Since drinking Ionized water I have personally lost over 40 lbs. I feel terrific! I'd personally recommend it to anyone. The water is much lighter and does not feel so heavy when you drink it.

..I still have about 20 more lbs to go till I hit my target weight. Interestingly enough I am NOT exercising any more than I did prior to getting an ionizer.

Probably the biggest difference was that the water tasted so far superior to any other water anywhere that I began to drink more and more of it. Since the water is so light you can drink quite a bit without feeling full or heavy.

This started off a chain reaction... the more I drank of this water the faster my body seemed to realize that it was totally dehydrated! It seemed for the first few weeks that the more water I drank the more thirsty I became. Each glass was more refreshing than the last.

I had no idea drinking water could be this rewarding / refreshing / hydrating; needless to say since my water consumption increased my snacking decreased commensurately.

My personal experience was that my body began to naturally detoxify as my water consumption increased. I was as surprised as anyone to realize that one of the amazing side effects was a dramatic weight loss - completely naturally!!!!"

Remaining Hopeful in a World Without Hope

It's a helluva headline, I know, but I was shocked this morning to read a report that George Monbiot, author of Heat, a superb book on climate change, has changed his mind. And the worst part of it is that having bought George's book, I hadn't even finished it before it became irrelevant!

You see, George wrote his book - and I was attracted to it because - it said that it was possible - just - to beat climate change. george is a journalist with the Guardian in the UK, but now he has attended a new climate change summit and he says latest research says our ice caps are going down like an icecream on a summer day. Not only that, it says the essential underpinning deep ice is melting first, creating the real inevitabilty of a massive onetime Tunami-like sea rise. He quoted research of the last time this happened in history; seas rose 25 meters, meaning 60% of the world's people would be homeless.

I dont know what you do to 'manage' these sorts of predictions. It seems that it's all happening too fast for a real solid new strategic philosophy to get a grip on any reasonable proportion of the population. I'd love your thoughts.

One thing is for sure; I'm not buying another climate change book; it changes too fast!

Why Adidosis Ages Us

We all hear that excess acid in our system ages us. Few of us ask why this is so.
I get very excited about - because the cells produce the proteins required for cellular repair. They can't repair themselves, as so they age. It's so basic.

Of course acidosis also weakens all of the body's organs. They don't do the job they were given by 'team body' and so they let down the next (also dysfunctional) organ in the chain of functional command. Acidosis also diminishes proper cognitive and mental function. The latest German research also says that our energy reserves are also reduced under an acidic environment.

Ever wondered why we lose muscle as we age? Sure, the old adage 'use it or lose it' is still true; a couch potato only has a good thumb muscle from using the remote, but did you know that acidic people actually eat their own muscles to manufacture glutamine, which is then used to make ammonia, an alkali resorted to when nothing else is availabLE to neutralize acids!

A-mazing!

Hamburger Anyone?

In the US, 21.7 MILLION pounds of ground beef has been recalled due to E. coli contamination.

21.7 MILLION POUNDS! (and it wasn't even processed in China)

Apparently if one contaminated carcass is chucked into a ginormous vat... it's all contaminated... and that's the EXCUSE the processor gave.

Oh, it's OK. Only one carcass was infected.

Brain Eating Bugs? Really?

TUCSON, AZ — A brain-eating amoeba was found in municipal water wells here, but officials say the water is safe to drink, according to local reports.

(Ian; There goes another flying pig!)

Naegleria fowleri grabbed headlines in September after a 14-year-old boy from Lake Havasu City, AZ, died after he was infected with it. Aaron Evans was the sixth person in the United States to die from it this year, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which reports a total of 24 deaths in the United States from the organism from 1989 to 2006.

The amoeba’s presence in groundwater used here for drinking water is perplexing: It usually is found in warm surface waters, such as rivers and lakes.

...and a Great Return Volley from Mark on behalf of the Cows!

As you know I've been publishing links to info from both sides of the fence regarding vegetarianism. As a long term vegetarian myself I have great faith in the philosophy, but when other ideas come along and need a hearing.. well, let's see just how they stand up with a little scrutiny.

(I read an article on an interview with Mister Bush on the weekend. While being interviewed he ordered lunch. a hot dog (low fat) and vanilla ice cream!)

Now Mark Berriman responds to the last posting about non-vegetarianism;

"Hi Ian

The website with the specious arguments against vegetarianism certainly takes the cake!

Give me a break with all this pro-meat propaganda. The longest living peoples of the Hunza valley were not total vegetarians but they limited their meat intake to a small amount once a week, but it was the minerals in their water that was responsible for their health and longevity - not the cow flesh.

As for meat and brain development, a new study by UCLA shows that we have developed more salivary gland genes as a result of our reliance on starchy tubers for brain growth in our early ancestors. Food for thought!

Please, please read the UN Food and Agriculture Organization report which shows how livestock produce more greenhouse gases than all the world's transport. These meat-heads will have us all char-grilled if they have their way. How many of them have actually given the diet a fair go by reading and applying correct information and trialling the diet for a reasonable time?

It is easy to have a well-balanced vegetarian diet and it does stop a great deal of suffering, environmental degradation and health problems.
Meat is a culturally-induced dietary habit and not a necessity, for Heaven's sake!

Yours sincerely

Mark Berriman

Mark, thanks for that. I agree totally. We can't afford to be meat eaters, not for our own sake but for the sake of the planet.

Virgin Coconut Oil update

Just a quick note; our advertising has been a bit tooo effective and this is what we have in stock;
1. Coconut creme concentrate - should be in at the end of the month
2. We have just two 4 litre tubs of organic virgin coco oil
3. We are out of 1L expeller pressed coco oil
4. We have a good supply of 4L expeller pressed oil
5. We have a good supply of 1L coco oil.

Cassie and I were comparing aging symptoms last night in the form of sun damage popping out as keratosis, or scaly pre-cancerous spots.

Cassie said it first; "I haven't had any new ones since I started using coco oil."

I had a think about it.. I'm 12 years older than Cassie and although my surfer and deep sea fisherman days have wreaked havoc on my skin already, I think the same has happened with me.

There is a theory that trans fats are the cause of sun spots because it lodges under the skin and 'bastes' your epidermis in the sun. I don't know if it's true but it does make sense in the light of another doctor's comment that trans fats actually act as if they are plastic inside the body.

Sometimes I just LOVE my Job. This is one.

I received an email from Dan Toomer, one of ION LIFE USA's distributors of Jupiter Science water alkalizers. Here's an email he received.

Dear Daniel,

This machine has been a God send!!!

My son and I work with a Ministry called Restoration Ranch we take the machine up there and fill the water bottles every two days, there are about 35 men ages starting at 22 yrs to 60 yrs old they are alcoholics and drug users which the court has sent to the ranch as a last resort before sending them to prison.

However the miracle of the detoxing water is that I hear reports from the men that they sleep thru the night, their muscles are not cramping up, head aches have disappeared, sugar cravings have diminished or completely gone away, tremors in the nerves have subsided, and what I have heard the most is that those who were depressed are acting some what normal they can actually keep their focus on the good things of life and there is much more. these things are happening in just several days using the water, we are also using a foot Detox along with the water.

We just want to thank you Daniel and don't get discouraged there are a lot of people who need your product and I am one of those people and I have made a commitment to send you people who need your life saving machine.
Ian: THAT'S why I love my job!

BTW, I notice from my interactive map below right that half of my readers are from USA. Here's our US site address.

Protecting Baby From Cell Phones; The lastest from Kiwi Land

A NZ man has developed clothing designed to shield foetuses from cellphones and electrical appliances, but scientists say there's no proof such shields are necessary.

Neil Bullock developed the MummyWrap, a sleeveless, loose-fitting garment for pregnant women made from a light-weight copper-based cotton fabric known as Swiss Shield.

Mr Bullock said there was "mounting concern" about the effects on developing babies of what he called "electrosmog" - the electro-magnetic radiation (EMR) generated by microwave ovens, TVs, computers and wireless communications including cellphones.

"There's a lot of concern worldwide about electro-magnetic radiation and we can't get away from electronics - it's invasive and it's all around us," Mr Bullock said.

Me? I'm happy with my TalkSafe.

It's Hard to Live Sugar Free. Now it's Illegal!

Cassie's favourite non-sugar sweetener, Stevia, is now classified as dangerous by the FDA, the US Food and Drug Administration.

What is the nasty ingredient that makes it dangerous? Well, they aren't saying it actually. In a classic cock-a-hoop legal wallahbagumbo, they are banning it because they CAN'T find any data about any nasty ingredients.

Because they can't find any, they are assuming there might be nasties in it. Got that?

If you want to see how they state their case, click here for a couple of pages of sheer bumpf.

Of course one might suggest that because the big soda companies are researching it as a replacement for Aspartame, a bit of political pressure is being brought to bear?
Surely not....

Dumb Product of the Week

About once a week I get notification of a new bottled water brand. In fact it seems there are so many brands now that it's only a matter of time before we give up getting tap water and buy it all in plastic.

This weeks' idiot venture into the market is from an ex world bank tyro who discovered a 'pristine spring' in a tropical rainforest in the middle of Brazil. He's constructing a huge plant to output 45000 trendy looking PET plastic bottles (see pic) a week.

Reacting to the bleeding obvious comments by environmentalists that the rainforest probably needs it more that city water drinkers, he responded; "I think it's up to the people to decide."

Translating marketspeak to humanspeak, I guess that would read, "Go to hell environmentalists. It's my money and I choose whether a rainforest has any value beyond immediate money potential."

Fib Tellers. Your Karma is... Alzheimers!

Just got this report:

People who lead a good clean life -- those who are conscientious, self-disciplined and scrupulous -- appear to be less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease, U.S. researchers said on Monday.

People who were highly conscientious -- those in the 90th percentile with scores of 40 or higher, had an 89 percent lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease than those who ranked in the 10th percentile, with a score of 28 or lower.

So.. all you fibbers out there; you will be condemned to a lifestyle where you can't remember if you fibbed or not. Now that would be hell.

Bicarbs and Strong Alkaline Water

Another letter from Jenny this week is worth sharing:

Ian Hi!

The alternative magazine 'Inner Self' in Adelaide has been running a series of articles by Dr. Sang Whang on exploring the benefits of an alkaline body. In the latest he says....

'The recommended dosage is (5) 8-10 oz glasses of water with a PH of 10.0 per day, but you can drink more and it will not harm you. Any excess alkaline mineral intake will discharge in urine. In order to maximize the effectiveness of your alkaline water, drink it between meals and in fasting (before breakfast). When drinking on an empty stomach, it allows for a maximum production of bicarbonates in the body.'

The question I have is (1) What do you think about drinking it at 10 (which I gather is at maximum level 1) and (2) What are bicarbonates???
Jenny

Jenny, I drink my alkaline water from my system at the highest level. I have done so for years. There's a mistake people make in comparing alkaline ionized water to 'normal' alkaline water. The error lies in the idea that alkaline ionized water has high levels of minerals in it to cause alkalinity. In fact although it does have higher levels than its source water, most of the alkalinity comes from the ionizing process and the change in the molecular structure of the water to a negatively charged state.

So technically, alkaline ionized water is known as 'unbuffered' water, meaning it doesn't have a host of minerals in it that will continue to alkalize once the negative ions unite with their elrctrically opposite positive ions in the body, such as free radicals.

'Bicarbonates' are Bicarbonate of Soda. Remember your Mum making the pea greener? That was Bicarbonate of soda that she sprinkled in the water. 'Bicarb' is uses in many body processes but its essential for protection of the stomach lining from acids. It's also seen as an environmentally safe kitchen cleanser.

Wikipedia says:

Sodium bicarbonate is the chemical compound with the formula NaHCO3. Because it has long been known and is widely used, the salt has many other names including sodium hydrogencarbonate, sodium bicarb, baking soda, bread soda, cooking soda, bicarb soda or bicarbonate of soda. The word saleratus, from Latin sal æratus meaning "aerated salt", was widely used in the 19th century for both sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate. The term has now fallen out of common usage.

It is soluble in water. Sodium bicarbonate is a white solid that is crystalline but often appears as a fine powder. It has a slight alkaline taste resembling that of sodium carbonate. It is a component of the mineral natron and is found dissolved in many mineral springs. The natural mineral form is known as nahcolite. It is also produced artificially.

Paradox Moment

Two stories for you this week:
Story One:
Ashley from Cairns rings me; he's just finished a eight day bike ride with friends. He's been a pleasure cyclist for years. In fact he's sixty three, and he was over the moon about the oxygenating effect of his new Waterman Portable Alkalizer. He was passing 20 and 30 year olds with ease.
'So your recovery time was much better?' I asked.
'Recovery time? It didn't exist!' he laughed. He loved his new alkalizer so much he had rung to buy two more as gifts for friends.

Story Two:
'Mary' rang and wanted to return her new Alphion. Her husband had ranted all weekend about how it was another bit of junk she was buying.
'Besides,' he had said. 'It can't go on the sink. I'd have to move the coffee machine!'.
Ian: I think there is a message there somewhere.

BTW; If you were impressed with Ashley's road trip performance, my special offer for the Waterman still stands.

Waterman Portable Alkalizer.
3 Replacement filters.
1 Bottle of AlkaBalance to supply potassium and sodium alkalis.
All for $140; you save $35

Would You Like Some Dead Racoon With That?

SARATOGA, CA — For more than 10 years, California Dept of Transportation workers have been dumping roadkill into a ravine on the San Jose Water Co. property, despite a “No Littering” sign, and now the company is worried the water supply is vulnerable.

According to a September 29 Mercury News story, thousands of deer, raccoon and other carcasses were dumped over a cliff onto the property. Many of the carcasses and skeletons ended up in Saratoga Creek as a result.

John Tang, a spokesman for the company, which supplies water to more than 1 million people, said, “This is an important issue. It could have an impact on the water supply.”
Residents have been saying that the Saratoga creek is cloudy and foamy. John Cherbone, Saratoga’s public works director, said the creek has tested for high levels of fecal matter in the past.
Cherbone said in the story, “At this point, we don’t know if carcasses of dead animals or whatever have any connection to what we’ve been looking at. But we’ll certainly be looking at that moving forward.”
